George Rosenfeld

Student and Social Entrepreneur

From the age of 12, George has combined his passions for charity and social entrepreneurship to raise over £250,000 as the founder of various initiatives.

Whilst studying Russian, Arabic and Politics at Cambridge, George set up ‘Raise’, a movement which encourages students to adopt a more positive and less guilt-centred approach to giving. With a keen focus on social psychology and effective altruism, the initiative has raised £150,000 in Cambridge, with new chapters established in Oxford, Durham and Glasgow.

Within the Jewish community, George has consistently championed outward-looking social responsibility. Having participated in the Chief Rabbi’s 2017 Ben Azzai programme, George led his cohort to establish ‘Social Responsibility Week’, with educational events in 35 communal institutions. As Youth Ambassador for the Commonwealth Jewish Council, he emphasises the contribution Jews can make in tackling global issues, and has established a coalition called ‘The Inter-Religious Commonwealth Youth Alliance’. He also runs ‘Kol Tov’, a Jewish acapella group which has raised over £80,000 for charity through CD sales and event performances.

In recognition of his social entrepreneurship and advocacy, George has received several awards, including at 10 Downing Street and the UN.
