Laura Hendy recently joined World Jewish Relief in the first position dedicated solely to climate action, as the charity steps up its efforts to reduce its own carbon footprint and to strengthen the climate resilience of its program participants around the world.
Laura brings technical experience in disaster risk management, climate change adaptation, and poverty reduction, developed over several years working for UN agencies and NGOs throughout the Asia-Pacific region including UN ESCAP, UNITAR, UNDP, and RIMES. Here her focus was mostly on research, policy advice, and programmatic support in early warning and preparedness, adaptive social protection, and using regional cooperation to strengthen climate resilience. Laura holds a BA in Geography from the University of Oxford and an MSc in Disaster Risk Management and Climate Change Adaptation from the University of Lund.
